Spain Park Day Camp & Highlands Kids

I had the pleasure of working at Spain Park Day Camp from May 2008 to August 2014. I was able to work with groups of children, ages 4-13, with most of my time spent with the 6-10 age group. I was able to work with both boys and girls groups, which allowed me to figure out the best ways to work with both. Working at the day camp I was able to engage in daily activities with the kids, prepare weekly schedules, and also got the chance to train middle and high school age kids who wanted to become counselors themselves. My time at the camp gave me the opportunity to grow and learn to step up in a leadership role. I was able to lead my groups in a positive manner and promote a safe and fun environment.

While serving at Highlands Kids, at Church of the Highlands in Auburn, I was able to serve alongside other leaders, lead worship, and lead interactive small groups with the children (ages 6-11). In this role I was able to continue to positively grow in a leadership role.

Mission Trip to LA Dream Center

During March 2014, I was able to spend my spring break in Los Angeles, California at the LA Dream Center. While there, our missions group was able to clean the streets of Los Angeles, serve those in need through the dream center food trucks, spend time with kids in low poverty neighborhoods and serve and pray for those on skid row through the Adopt-A-Block program. While there I was able to see different environments that people grow up in and learn to really appreciate what I have. One of the best things to see was the genuine care a lot of the parents had for their kids, even though they may have not been able to provide extravgent gifts, clothes, or schooling that they were doing everything they could to do what was best for their children.

Wishmakers On Campus

During the Fall of 2012 and Spring of 2013, I got the chance to be a part of the founding group of Wishmakers on Campus: Auburn. Wishmakers On Campus works to raise money for the well known Make-A-Wish foundation. As the public relations coordinator I was able to plan and prepare events with the help of my committee of volunteers. As well as preparing for fundraisers, I assisted in the running of all social media as well as the designing and ordering of all event flyers and tshirts.  During this role, I was able to take on a lot of responsibility as well as work with important deadlines and rules.
